Key Activities and services of Ashar Alo Society (AAS)
Bringing PLHIV under Program Coverage
- Provide HTC Services through 10 service center in 6 districts among 4 divisional cities (Dhaka, Sylhet, Chittagong and Khulna)
- Networking visit to the referral doctors, testing lab, hospital and different agency
- Ensure chronic HIV care for PLHIV through regular clinical and psychosocial assessment
- Provide hospitalized, pre and post ART lab investigation, home base care and linkage support.
Education, counseling
- Pre & posttest counseling, and other different category of counseling e.g. peer, follow up, spousal, family, care givers, nutritional, ART adherence, side effects mgt. etc.
- Training and orientation to the caregivers
Health care and treatment support for people living with HIV and AIDS:
- Provide out-patient health services in AAS set up for OIs management.
- Provide necessary medication for OIs and laboratory testing (CD4, viral load, TLC, other necessary routine test)
- Referral for out-patient treatment services to the specialists
- Provide ART Support and PMTCT service
- Referral for in-patient services and provide necessary support e.g. nutrition and testing for inpatient care & treatment
Advocacy, Networking, Sensitization and community mobilizations:
- Advocacy at policy level to formulate or review the policy for ensuring the human rights of PLHIV that are violating due to HIV positive status.
- Advocacy in the sub-national and community level for reducing stigma & discrimination including health service providers for ensuring necessary support
- Advocacy & networking with Media to ensure the rights of PLHIV
- Courtyard meeting (Uthan Baithok) for community awareness
- Advocacy with Go-NGOs, for increasing more support as well as ensure continuum of care for the PLHIV.
- Ensure effective networking with legal support providing agency for ensuring legal assistance for the PHA.
- Observe of World AIDS Day and AIDS Candle Light Memorials through some special
Training and capacity building program participants:
- Conduct training on Peer Education, Leadership development, Health and Nutrition, Human Rights and Positive Living
- Coordinate Vocational Training for PHAs and Provide support for Income Generation Activity
Capacity building of project staff:
- Organize basic training on VCT/HTC for counselor, lab technician, Peer Counselor and center manager.
- Organize staff coordination meeting, Team building workshop, staff retreat.
- Organize & coordinate different training e.g. PME, financial management, organizational management, STI management, advocacy, gender mainstreaming,
Provide support to the Infected & Affected Women & Children:
- Provide food and nutrition support
- Provide Legal Support to the women
- Facilitate to ensuring PMTCT
Contribute to HIV prevention in Bangladesh
- Develop & Distribute IEC and BCC materials for care & support service promotion (brochure, booklet, stickers, health book, referral card, ART booklet, self care series etc.)
- Conduct/Host exposure visit for the different prevention organization and most at risk population (MARP), faith based organization, service providers and other different groups at AAS center.
- Information sharing sessions with MARP in selected NGOs,
- HIV Helpline/Hotline service
